Software Feature Analysis for Better Software Change Analysis

Legacy systems represent major investments which cannot be lightly discarded. To allow them to evolve to meet emerging needs they must be understandable to the Software Engineers who maintain and enhance them. Joint STARS is a large mission-critical system developed and maintained by Northrop Grumman. A study in 1996 indicated that the SERC's software reconnaissance technique could be useful in understanding how different features of the system are implemented. However Joint STARS has evolved greatly since that time.

This project will attempt to develop a set of software reconnaissance tools specific to Joint STARS that can be incorporated into Northrop Grumman's development process.
